The American Burn Association (ABA) established the National Burn Repository (NBR) to facilitate the improvement of patient care in the burn care community. Historically, the NBR was populated with data from disparate platforms offering limited flexibility and varying quality, and no central point of access for members. The ABA recognized the need for innovation by providing its members with more consistent and reliable data.
"BData’s team worked in partnership with ABA staff and volunteers to develop a burn care registry platform that is easy to use and generates reports that will ultimately help our members improve the quality of care to patients."
Kimberly A. Hoarle, MBA, CAE Executive Director, American Burn Association
Through a partnership and collaboration with BData, a new cloud-based solution was developed: the Burn Care Quality Platform (BCQP). This proprietary and powerful evidence generation engine identifies, collects, validates, curates, and analyzes healthcare data. This resulting system provides ABA members access to interactive reports through an advanced analytic ecosystem, enabling members to evaluate their own facility performance against the national standard. The platform is robust enough and offers modules that support activities such as accreditation and risk modeling, including workflows to help ensure high quality patient care.
As a direct result of BData’s solution, the ABA has the centralized data storage and governance it needs to improve the quality of burn care. Advanced, ongoing analytics are available to all members on their laptops, for unprecedented access to valuable, usable, benchmarking information on burn care patients and outcomes. Just as important, the BCQP creates strong member engagement and increased revenue for the association.
