ABOUT BDATA

Powering the burn care eco-system and ensuring the care of one patient improves the care of all patients.

Using the power of data, we enable Burn Centers, Life Science companies, and the burn care community to innovate and improve how burn patients are treated.

What We Do

BData improves the quality, cost, and access of burn care nationwide.
BData is dedicated to improving the quality, cost, and accessibility of burn care across the United States. At the center of our work is the Burn Care Quality Platform (BCQP)—a proprietary, clinically driven data platform built in partnership with the American Burn Association (ABA).

Developed with direct input from the multidisciplinary teams who care for burn patients every day, the BCQP ensures that the data collected is meaningful, actionable, and aligned with the real needs of the burn care ecosystem.

Across the country, cross‑functional burn center teams rely on the BCQP to benchmark care, identify opportunities for improvement, and elevate the standard of care. Life sciences organizations use our analytics and evidence‑generation services throughout the product development lifecycle to uncover patterns, validate innovations, and accelerate research.

By connecting national registry data with insights from additional data partners, BData helps drive research, quality improvement, and innovation—ultimately raising the standard of burn care for every patient.

Our Story

BData was built in partnership with the burn care community. In 2005, while working with the American College of Surgeons on the National Trauma Databank, our founder saw firsthand the dedication of burn surgeons and the unmet need for stronger data infrastructure in a field that treats more than 650,000 patients annually that generate over $45 billion in societal cost. In collaboration with the American Burn Association (ABA), BData became the data and analytics partner behind the National Burn Repository—laying the foundation for what would become the Burn Care Quality Platform (BCQP).

Over the past two decades, that partnership has evolved into the largest clinical burn database in the world, now encompassing more than 600,000 inpatient admissions and supporting over 85% of U.S. burn centers, with an emerging international presence. Today, the BCQP serves as the data backbone and cornerstone of evidence generation in burn care—powering quality benchmarking, peer-reviewed research, life science collaboration, and engagement with regulatory and payer stakeholders to advance the standard of care.

While burn care remains our core focus and defining expertise, the data ecosystem and analytic capabilities developed alongside the burn community have extended into other clinical domains through national registries and advisory partnerships. Across every engagement, our philosophy remains the same: Strength in Numbers®—the belief that collaboration, transparency, and shared data accelerate improvement for all.

Looking ahead, BData is building on this unprecedented data network to apply the most advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence—to further accelerate innovation in burn care. Rather than developing AI solutions in isolation, our innovations are built in partnership with burn surgeons, researchers, patients, and the ABA to ensure real-world applicability and measurable impact. As we expand our collaborations internationally and deepen partnerships with federal leaders such as BARDA, our mission remains constant: to ensure that the care of one burn patient contributes to better care for every burn patient.
